Davina Dowling- Nutritional Therapist
Davina qualified as a Nutritional Therapist from the Irish Institute of Nutrition and Health in 2009 fulfilling her lifelong dream of working in this area. Having lived abroad in places like Australia and Canada, she had the opportunity to do some study in health care before embarking on her course in Ireland.
She is passionate about helping people understand the connection between food and how it affects all the body systems and how our choices determine how well we feel, think, act and behave on a daily basis. She firmly believes that there is “no one size fits all” approach to nutritional advice as each person is unique.
She provides one on one nutritional consultations and her areas of speciality are:
• Women’s Health – hormonal symptoms from teen to menopause
• Fertility Nutrition
• Lymphatic Cleanse Programme
• Blood Sugar Management
• Digestive Health
A consultation includes a customised nutrition plan with shopping list and recipes as well as tailored supplement and lifestyle advice.
In 2016, Davina completed a course in Iridology from the College of Naturopathic Medicine. Iridology is the analysis of the iris (the coloured part of the eye) to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the organs. It provides information about genetic predisposition to specific health conditions e.g. arthritis, diabetes etc. During examination of the iris, Davina looks at the colour, fibres and individual markings using a magnifier and takes a photo which is emailed to the client to keep. Iridology is a useful tool for identifying areas that need to be strengthened in particular and can highlight, for example, where there may be a build up of acid in the body or potential food allergies.
Davina also provides cooking and nutrition courses called Healthy Food Made Easy which are certified by the HSE and help people learn about healthier food choices, plan meals on a budget and how to make easy to cook recipes. It is a 4 week course and covers advice on reducing sugars in the diet as well as learning to read food labels.
